If you are a (novice) writer and English is your first language, perhaps we can help you find a (Dutch) publisher. However, you should be aware that we only send manuscripts out to publishers in some cases. As a rule, we represent English speaking authors on behalf of their primary agent or publisher, usually in the UK or US.
Due to the large number of manuscripts we receive, we must follow a very strict procedure. Manuscripts that are not sent in accordance with the following guidelines cannot be taken into consideration.
We only accept proposals together with partial manuscripts. If we are interested in your manuscript we will request the rest of the manuscript.
Criteria
The manuscript must meet the following criteria:
- The first fifty pages only;
- Letter type: Times New Roman;
- Letter format: 12 pts.;
- Line space: 1,5.
Information
The proposal must have a maximum length of four A4 and contain the following information:
- Title;
- Genre (e.g. correspondence, thriller, narrative nonfiction, novel, short story or diary) and tone;
- Summary;
- Main characters;
- Theme;
- Setting;
- Illustrations (if relevant);
- Intended audience and motivation why this audience will want to read it;
- Outline and the contents of your book;
- Estimated length (number of words);
- Short biography of yourself.
